Note:
Upgrading from a 20 Hp to 24 Hp engine improves production by approximately 15%.
Blade Options Petersons offer solid tungsten carbide tipped blades with all mills. On the 8" and 10" cut mills, you have the choice of thinner kerf tips when cutting hardwoods, or wider kerf when cutting soft, rough timbers. The 8" blades are supplied with 5.25mm kerf tips but you can go down to 5mm for thin-kerf cutting, or up to 5.5mm for softwoods. The 10" blades are supplied with 5.8mm kerf tips but you can go down to 5.5mm for thin-kerf cutting, or up to 6mm for softwoods. Situations where there is no easily accessible saw-doctor, or logs contain nails, wire etc, the special insert blades with removable "Insert Claws" may be more feasible. These claws can easily be replaced with new ones on site using the Insert Tool. l The
ATS Mill The ATS mill will triple production - I don't have to spend half my time walking to the other ends to lower the tracks. Now doing some serious saw milling and feel a lot more accomplished at the end of a day" Marcus Frankpitt UK |
WPF- WINCH PRODUCTION FRAME Available
in 6" (up to 5½" x 12"), 8" (up to 8" x 16"),
10" (up to 10" x 20") |
Overview These models are designed for fast production of high quality accurate timber. The fixed track method means you have access to the log and can cut timbers from all sides. You can add extensions to any length without compromising the accuracy or speed of the mill. To increase productivity an extra set of tracks can be added so that while the operator is sawing logs at one end, another log can be set up at the other end. This will allow you to double the production. Tracks The
Lo/Lo tracks are recommended if you will be frequently moving from log to log.
You can upgrade to the Hi/Lo tracks for use beside a stockpile of logs. The Hi/Lo
prevents any sawdust building up on a low track and allows easy loading of logs
under the high side of the mill. The Hi/Lo set up can be used as Lo/Lo tracks.
Set up and breakdown time are the same. Features
The Production Frame mills come in 6", 8" or 10" models, and are powered by 13 hp or 24 hp industrial 4-stroke Honda motors. The Peterson 6" Production Frame is also unique in the fact that it is fully upgradable to 8" cut at a later date. These mills can produce anywhere from 2 - 12 cubic metres or 800 - 5000 board feet per day depending on your logs and setup, and all size models can easily double cut without turning the unit around. Basic packages come with tracks to cut logs of 4.2 m (14') or 6m (20') long and 1.2m (4') diameter, 2 blades, sharpener, basic safety kit, spares & tools, and a training video. We
also have a range of log handling tools like Cant Hooks, Log Dogs and other accessories
that make milling life a little bit easier. We even have attachments for your
4-stroke Peterson mills that can cut tapered weatherboards and wide slabs
Peterson's most popular model worldwide - the 8" Production Frame with Hi / Lo Tracks Great for long beams and railway sleepers. Quality cutting is an added bonus of its portability."Ian Anderson, UK. |

DEDICATED
WIDE SLABBER In a production frame |
| Overview
The dedicated slabber slabs up to 4' or 5' wide are extremely valuable - up to 5 times the value of an equivalent amount of sawn dimensional timber! Attractive solid and/or live-edge slabs can be used for up-market kitchen work tops, classy bar tops, large family tables, boardroom tables, picnic tables, and many other types of furniture. The ideal partnership is having the Peterson Dedicated frame sit at the other end of (and on) your existing Peterson circular sawmill tracks, which may be extended. This ultimate solution allows you to quickly change from dimensional sawing to slabbing and back, on the same log. You can leave your slabs live-edged on attractive pieces, or you can then use the circular saw unit to edge each side (an excellent way to cut those extra large beams too). You are also not stuck slabbing the defects in the log - you can dimensional-saw around the defects, saving precious timber and getting the most valuable timber out of any given log. The unique Peterson "dedicated" unit also allows a much faster speed ratio than other slabbers, more suited to the manufacturer's chain speed specifications and giving the ultimate in slabbing speed and finish quality. Features
The dedicated wide slabber mill can be used on the winch production tracks, or even fit in the milling frame to keep costs down! A basic package includes tracks to cut up to 6m (20') long, a frame to cut up to 5' diameter, 20 hp Honda power, two chains and sharpener.
The Peterson Dedicated Slabber can cut a slab up to 5' wide and 8" thick.
The
clip on slabber allows a large frame ATS or production frame sawmill to be converted
to a wide slabber. The circular blade is removed and the bar and chain fitted
using two brackets and a sprocket.
The Peterson is built for constant day-in-day-out operations...

| The
simple operation of the Peterson Portable Sawmill |
| A single circular blade swings 90' to achieve first a horizontal, then a vertical cut, in order to free a perfectly dimensioned piece of timber from the log. A rise and fall mechanism is mounted within a carriage which is manually pushed and pulled upon parallel tracks over a stationary log. To start a log, the blade unit is positioned at the top left of the log, with the blade in horizontal position. The operator gently pushes the mill frame gently through the log to effect the first cut - see below. Carriage movement through the log only requires about 10lb of pressure, as you are letting the blade do the work.
The blade unit is now moved right, to the desired width of your next board, and the horizontal and vertical cuts are repeated in the above order.
Lowering
the blade unit using the simple hand-winch, for your next layer of cuts Basically, these steps are repeated until you have only a thin firewood slab remaining at the bottom of your log - you have no need to move the log at any time during the whole sawing process. The concept is extremely inventive, but surprisingly simple. Running a single blade instead of two at once, also means you do not need a huge motor, which of course decreases both overall cost AND weight! Production is increased by not having to lower and raise the rails (when sizing)" Neil Fenton, UK
